Butterfly Migration > Bracelet / Earring / Mask

Works inspired by the description of “butterfly spring” that Xu Xiake wrote in his trip notes when he travelled to Dali, Yunnan. With the development of Yunnan tourism, local environment has been destroyed so badly, the pomp of butterfly spring exists no more. Through the flowing images that formed by the combination of several groups of jewelry, and with model’s body language which reproduce the images of flying butterfly over the “butterfly spring”, I’m trying to emphasize the balance of the harmony between human and nature. The shell on the crown represents the moon, and the shell on the ear represents lake, composed of a three-dimensional picture. I selected metal and waste that can be recycled as material, used handmaking to reduce energy consumption, hoping to urge people to cherish the earth's resources, and wishing the earth would be beautiful again.

Autum Bride > Ring

I decided to use the Linden as inspiration source. This is an endemic plant in my country (Ecuador), and it can be found mainly in the highlands. I decided to work with its sublime flower, not only because of its beauty but for the memories it evokes in my beloved wife. A happy childhood surrounded by nature and especially accompanied by the linden flower which was part of countless games and memories. One of her favorite remembrance is how the linden flower played the role of a bride bouquet in her wedding games, as a little girl. My intention was to rescue these memories of childhood and translate them into pieces of original jewelry, highlighting the source of materials in order to obtain a unique result.

Petrified > Necklace

My inspiration comes from the material: aluminum foil. I discovered its property to appear organic while keeping its metallic characteristics. I was interested in the illusion of it, looking like tree bark turned to stone. The story of Medusa who turned every living thing that looks at her eyes into stone was another main inspiration. I decided to create a choker made of “bark”, which actually is the very light aluminum, imitating the shape of a vertical and straight trunk.
